Black-Tailed Skimmer Orthetrum cancellatum

Relatively common on Baltic shores - the species is almost strictly coastal throughout the northern Baltic area. Reedy bays and shores, also small pools and lakes right next to the sea shore. Immature individuals are often recorded several kilometers away from the sea.

Also breeds inland, around Savonlinna in southern Savo.

Flight period: June-August
